HOUSE RULES
1. NO smoking of any kind.
a. If someone must smoke; tell him or her to go to the balcony
i. Sliding door and the bathroom window must both be shut
2. Keep doors locked.
3. Limit use of A.C., heat, lights, water, etc.
a. Consider NATURAL light, OPEN windows…
4. Any major (& possibly minor) changes must be announced & approved by ALL housemates.
5. Respect others.
a. If someone has an issue, please make it known.
i. Open dialogue & honesty form healthy relationships.
ii. Most likely, things will not be fixed until you talk about it.
b. Do NOT take/barrow someone else’s things without asking.
6. No one or two people should ONLY be doing any of the chores
7. Although we are all slightly unmotivated we will need to make a cleaning schedule for:
a. Bathroom – sink, floor, shower, toilet
i. If stunk up, make effort to air out…
ii. When the toilet paper roll runs out, throw the old roll out & put on a new roll.
b. Kitchen – counter, sink, organize shelves
i. Dishes should be washed after use, unless…
1. Other circumstances are arranged (group rotation)
2. Emergency circumstances, if then, as soon as possible
ii. Unfinished drinks should be name labeled
iii. YOUR food should be labeled or marked in order to indicate what is or isn’t free game
c. Common Areas – sweep, dust, straighten, windows
d. Rooms
i. Please do NOT allow rooms to get out of control to the point they effect the rest of the house (ex. food attracts ants)
ii. When leaving your room, turn OFF your room light
iii. Do NOT leave your computer &/or phone chargers in/on while not in use
e. If something is used (or moved, etc.) put it back where you found it.
f. Laundry should be done at your own preference, but let’s not go too crazy (schedule?)
g. If a “bad night” / sickness occurs, alert housemates if not already done & cleaning will hopefully commence
8. Trash
a. Should NOT be emptied (under normal circumstances) if less than a third (>1/3) full/filled
b. Must be emptied before overflowing (obviously)
i. OR every Sunday evening or Monday morning
c. Please make sure all trash makes it in the dumpster.
d. House recycling policy – TBA
9. Guests
a. All guests must be announced prior to arrival (& approval)
i. If not, or unexpected, notify as soon as possible
ii. You are responsible for your own guest (s) in every aspect
iii. Boyfriends & reoccurring guests DO count
b. Make sure guests know the house is smoke free
c. Guest (s) please contribute… i.e. toilet paper, clean dishes, or money…
d. ALL housemates must approve parties at least 24 hours in advance.
i. The party planner MUST clean properly after
ii. Do NOT let friends abuse couch privileges
e. Any “escapades” that will effect the rest of the house…
i. Please give verbal notice prior to… (Ex. loud noises/sounds from room)
ii. Avoid “hooking up” in common areas
iii. Possible signal for (above)
10. If studying in a common area, courteousness can be expected, but silence is NOT mandatory.
a. Inside voices, please.
11. Any broach of the rules…
a. Accidents
i. One or more spread over time will be forgiven
b. Reoccurring incidents
i. Will be confronted & penalty (possibly) should be formed
Simple Set:
1. If you open it, Close it
2. If you turn it on, Turn it off
3. If you unlock it, Lock it
4. If you break it, Repair it
5. If you can’t fix it, Call in someone who can
6. If you barrow it, Return it
7. If you use it, Take care of it
8. If you make a mess, Clean it up
9. If you move it, Put it back
10. If it belongs to somebody else & you want to us it, Ask
11. If you don’t know how to operate it, Leave it alone
12. If it doesn’t concern you, Don’t mess with it
